From experience I can say, those who will be taking care of you will often be wonderful.
Do what you need to do, and the docs you trust suggest. And look for support in all other kinds of places.., as recommended by friends.., and as your dreams show the way.
I had a mastectomy w/ no replacement 15 years ago when I was 65. I felt i might worry with every funny feeling from the replacement. That decision worked for me, and I felt like a beautiful strong Amazon as I healed;-) And other women benefit most from what they choose. I did make a point of asking for post surgical PT, and the woman who treated me was wonderful. I felt whole after each visit. The good doc said I could probably do the exercises at home. I wanted and kindly demanded all the care that I felt was important. And loved that care. It fed me;-) Support groups are good if that is your thing. I felt glad for the group I attended.
