I (officially) collect three things: handkerchiefs (small pile, about 1/4 get used), old cameras on display throughout my home bringing delight, and Christmas ornaments—I’ve been making and collecting one-of-kind treasures since age 12. All carefully and lovingly wrapped in special cartons. Exquisite. And….too many to fit on the tree. Every year I release a few, but this year (gulp) I am making a bigger pile. It is hard. I have a story for each of them, some of them meaningful, heart-tugging stories, some of them “I bought this at World Market in 2006.” And some I have forgotten, so those will be donated unless truly exquisite (how many back-of-the-tree ornaments does one need?). I’m super sentimental about my tree, but I am also… tired. Thank you for encouraging some loving culling of beloved ornaments. And yes, I have photos of all 500 with the year or decade acquired!
